US firm Orrick has launched a London regulatory practice with the hire of a partner duo from Liquid Capital Group (LCM).
Sam Millar and Tony Katz both join from the London-based liquidity provider, where they served as general counsel and group head of compliance respectively.
Millar joined LCM from Jones Day and Katz from the FSA.
Both are experienced in advising financial institutions, funds and FTSE-listed companies in contentious and non-contentious matters, including regulatory investigations and commercial litigation.
In a statement, Orrick London head Anne O’Neill said: “Financial institutions comprise more than one-third of Orrick’s practice globally and this addition responds to our clients’ increasing demand for seamless global regulatory and dispute resolution advice.”
Liquid Capital Group is a global options market-making firm and a long-time Orrick client.
The appointments come after Orrick hired two finance partners from Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy in New York (3 October 2011).
