Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe has appointed real estate partner Dennis Martin as head of its Tokyo office
He succeeds Michael Bacon who relocated to the firm's London office last September to become head of international offices. Martin joined Orrick's Tokyo office in 1999, having been located in Japan since 1997. His practice is focused on property and property finance, including securitisation, asset management and distressed loans portfolio acquisitions, for US, Japanese, European and Hong Kong clients. Bacon said: "Orrick has made a significant mark among the leading global law firm in Tokyo and, under Dennis Martin's guidance, I am confident that the office will continue to thrive." Counsel James Tervo has transferred from San Francisco to Tokyo where he will head the Japanese real estate practice. Bacon said: "The addition of James Tervo significantly expands our ability to represent foreign investors and institutional lending clients and broadens our commitment to our Asian business interests." Tervo's arrival in Tokyo takes Orrick's Japan office to five senior practitioners. The firm also works in tandem with three-lawyer local Japanese firm Sho Kokushi Law Office.
