  • I'm not sure that a stigma claim will be very easy to run - by time that any trial could occur the number of claimants still unemployed and unemployable is likely to be small. If the Leveson inquiry finds (as seems not improbable) that criminality of the sort alleged to have occurred at NotW was also prevalent in much of the rest of the press it is going to be rather difficult to prove that any stigma attaches from being at the NotW rather than from working in the industry more generally.
    I reckon that the biggest winners are likely to be the partners at Silverman Sherliker who have got a lot of publicity out of getting the proposed litigation together.
