Online documents are way forward

Your story on Companies House (The Lawyer, 30 August) omits key facts about the service.

Since ICC has taken ownership of the Companies House duplicate library, we have been able to implement the fastest ever turnaround times for document search orders.

Fears expressed about the accuracy of online document services are also unfounded. The processes by which ICC Information collects and stores documents conform to the code of practice for the legal admissibility of information stored on electronic document management systems (BSI-DISC PD0008).

Online services can provide the exact documents required in a fraction of the time it takes for microfiche to reach London by courier. Where online information services provide certified exact copies of Companies House microfiche records, fears of incompleteness and inaccuracy prove groundless. For legal professionals using Companies House documents where time is at a premium, ICC advocates using the mouse, not the bike. The future of document delivery is online and those users and suppliers who ignore this will lose competitive edge.
