Specialist intellectual property chambers One Raymond Buildings is losing commercial and intellectual property barrister Arthur Ashton to a boutique firm.
Ashton has decided to join Goldberg Linde from the highly regarded chambers of Christopher Morcom QC to take advantage of Goldberg's strong IT practice.
Goldberg Linde partner Karl Linde says: "Internet work is developing rapidly and we constantly seek opinions in such areas. Arthur has a high profile in IT, which accounts for 40 per cent of our work."
Linde says that the firm's strength lies in its specialist divisions in cross-border M&A and technology e-business group and international tax. He says: "Goldberg is like a department of Linklaters."
South African trained Ashton says: "I am sorry to be leaving a very sound and expert set but unfortunately I think one's shelf-life as a barrister is limited and this offers greater scope for many more years." His former chambers wished him well for the future.
