IP expert David Dew has joined Morgan Cole in Oxford from London firm Charles Russell.

Dew qualified in 2008 and has managed a broad range of commercial files including large corporations and public sector institutions, although IP exploitation is his focus. Dew said: “It’s clear that Morgan Cole offers clients an efficient and collaborative approach to commercial law. They have an excellent reputation and I’m proud to be part of such a well-established and respected firm.”
Associate Isabel Hudson has been made up to partner at media and litigation firm Carter-Ruck. She specialises in defamation.
Morgan Lewis has hired power and gas partner Martin Stewart-Smith from Simmons & Simmons. He starts on 1 September.
Farrer & Co has promoted family lawyer Eliza Hebditch and IP and commercial lawyer Paul Jones to the partnership. Edward Banyard Smith and Mark Gauguier are also promoted to partner in the commercial property team, bringing the total number of partners to 81.
Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe has hired Will Gay from Hogan Lovells as a managing associate. He focuses on finance, funds and tax, among other areas. James Lindon also joins from share scheme boutique RM2, where he was a manager, as a specialist in share schemes and company secretarial services.

Morgan Lewis has taken on seasoned Hogan Lovells real estate partner Ingo Winterstein for its Frankfurt office.
French independent Jeantet Associés has promoted corporate associate Nicolas Partouche to partner. Partouche becomes the department’s ninth and the firm’s 25th partner. He has worked at Jeantet for 11 years.
Partner Jean-Pierre Winandy has retired from the management committee of Loyens & Loeff Luxembourg, which he has chaired since October 2008. He will continue to head the tax department, which he has run since 2003. Local partner Véronique Hoffeld and partner Pieter Stalman have been appointed to the new committee.

Capital markets senior associate Siddhartha Sivaramakrishnan and associate attorney Felipe Duque have relocated to Herbert Smith’s Singapore office, from the Hong Kong and London offices respectively.
DLA Piper has hired Yan Zhao as a partner in its Asia IP team. He will be based in Shanghai but work mainly out of Hong Kong. He joins from Foley & Lardner, where he was senior counsel.
