Maitland Chambers chief executive Robert Graham-Campbell has quit the set for private practice and has been appointed as chief executive of Knightsbridge firm Pemberton Greenish.
Move of the week
Graham - Campbell has spent the past 10 years at the bar, joining Maitland in January 2007 from common law set 7 Bedford Row. As chief executive Graham-Campbell will chair Pemberton’s board, which is made up of its practice heads, while managing partner Robert Barham will relinquish his managerial duties to head the firm’s residential and specialist conveyancing services. Graham-Campbell said: “It’s always been my aim to work on both sides of the legal profession. I’ve enjoyed my time in chambers, but the right opportunity comes along rarely and this was it.”
Rosenblatt has hired Cathy Ley as a partner to head its projects, construction and infrastructure team. She joins from the London Development Agency, where she was head of the PPP law team.
Michael Varvill has joined IP firm HGF as a partner in its Chancery Lane office. He joins from Bird & Bird, where he was a partner.
Fasken Martineau has added two lawyers to its London office. Partner Michael McCartney joins the employment team from Dechert, where he was a senior associate. Meanwhile, competition consultant Sheila Tormey joins the life sciences team from Barlow Lyde & Gilbert, where she was an associate director.
Boodle Hatfield has appointed the former managing director of Hines UK as a consultant in its property team. Stephen Musgrave, who joins the firm’s London office, has been running his own company since leaving Hines last year.
The Law Society has named Stapleton & Son partner Nick Fluck as deputy vice-president elect. He will chair the society’s technology and law reference group and will become president in 2013.
Berwin Leighton Paisner has promoted nine lawyers to associate director. They are: Neasa Coen, Morgan James and Reshmi Manekporia (tax); Sarah Fitzpatrick, Simon Gardiner, Alan Gutteridge and Giles Pink (real estate); and Claire McNamara and Rashpal Soomal (litigation and dispute resolution). The firm has also added partners to its corporate finance and asset finance practices. Alexander Keepin joins the corporate group from Charles Russell, while the asset management team has been boosted with the appointment of Keith Wilson, who quit as Paul Hastings London asset finance head to join London commercial boutique Ingram Winter Green as a consultant last November.
Paul Hastings has appointed corporate vice-chairman Ronan O’Sullivan as managing partner of its London office. The US firm announced the appointment following the decision by current London head Phil Feder to return to his home town of Los Angeles.
Ashfords has welcomed employment partner Stephen Moore to its Bristol office, where he will head the firm’s employment team. He joins from Cardiff firm Berry Smith, where he was a partner and head of employment.
Manchester-based firm Millbank Edge has strengthened its corporate finance practice with the appointment of Andrew Needham as a partner. Needham joins from DWF.
Commercial property lawyer Martyn Holland has returned to Irwin Mitchell after a four-year stint as a partner at DLA Piper. He joins the Sheffield office as a consultant. Prior to leaving DLA Piper he was a partner.
Natalie Aitken has qualified as a solicitor at South Yorkshire firm Atteys. Based in Doncaster, she joins the employment team.
Hill Dickinson has appointed former Manchester managing partner David Wareing
as its new senior partner. Wareing replaces incumbent Tony Wilson. Wilson, who has been senior partner since 2001, will remain at the firm as a partner in the insurance team. Wareing was managing partner of the Manchester office between 1998 and 2005.
Irish firm Mason Hayes & Curran has hired Eimear Collins as a partner in its commercial litigation team. She joins from A&L Goodbody, where she was a senior associate.
German firm CMS Hasche Sigle has named Andreas Zanner as managing partner of its Frankfurt office. He succeeds Hubertus Kolster, who has become firmwide managing partner.
Russian firm Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners has welcomed Ivan Smirnov as a partner in the Moscow office, where he will lead the firm’s regulatory department. He joins from the St Petersburg office of Baker & McKenzie.
Simmons & Simmons partner Laure Joncour has joined the Paris office of Norton Rose as a partner and to head its employment practice.
She is accompanied by a team of three lawyers, including of counsel Marie-Thérèse Eugenio and Elodie Grangier.
French independent Jeantet & Associés has added three partners from Pricewaterhouse-Coopers’ associated legal firm Landwell & Associés. Private client specialist Nicole Goulard, litigator Sylvie Le Damany and employment partner Francis Collin join Jeantet along with their teams of associates.
Fulbright & Jaworski has appointed environmental litigator Elizabeth Weaver as a partner in its Los Angeles office. She joins from failed firm Howrey and is accompanied by her senior associate Stephanie Stroup.
Blake Dawson has appointed Phil Breden as a partner in its corporate practice in Sydney. Breden joins from Gilbert & Tobin, where he was also a partner.
Global specialist insurer Torus has appointed José Ramón González as general counsel, based in Jersey City and reporting to chief executive Clive Tobin. He joins Torus from Chartis (formerly AIG), where he was most recently deputy general counsel of US operations.
