Hill Hofstetter, the firm formed two years ago by senior partners at Reed Smith’s Birmingham office, has made a trio of partner appointments.

Shoosmiths corporate partner Peter Seary (centre) and Mills & Reeve associate Ben Turner (left) have both joined the corporate group. Seary was previously head of Shoosmiths’ Midlands corporate and commercial team, based in Nottingham. Hill Hofstetter managing partner and corporate head Christopher Hill said of the hires: “Both bring with them vast experience and excellent reputations that will enhance our team.” The firm has also promoted Richard Waugh (right) to partner in its commercial disputes practice.
Dawsons property partner Simon Livesey has moved to Winckworth Sherwood. He joins his new firm along with his senior assistant Richard Wootton.
Stone King has hired TPP Law director Graham Burns as a partner in its expanding education law team. Burns was head of projects for London at Eversheds before establishing an education practice at TPP Law.
Sacker & Partners has re-elected Ian Pittaway as its senior partner for his third consecutive term. The firm has also reappointed Mark Greenlees as deputy senior partner.
Human rights head Frances Swaine has been elected Leigh Day & Co’s first managing partner.
City commercial boutique Starr & Partners has promoted senior associate Layla Bunni to partner in its employment practice.
Kent firm Furley Page has appointed trainee Naomi Hayward to its family law team. Hayward specialises in advising on divorce, civil partnerships, cohabitation and financial disputes.
Trethowans has promoted two associates to partner. Head of farms and estates Marcus Thorpe and head of residential property Tim Higham have both joined the partnership at the Salisbury firm, taking the partner headcount to 28. In addition, partner Yvette Rooke has taken over as team leader in the firm’s family group.
FBC Manby Bowdler has appointed Niall Blackie as senior partner. The head of town and country planning replaces Gavin Southall, who has retired from the partnership and become a consultant to the firm.
HBJ Gateley Wareing has boosted its Birmingham real estate team with the appointment of two senior lateral hires. Raman Jagpal and Alex Jones have both joined the national firm as partners. Jagpal was previously head of property investments at Browne Jacobson, while Jones joins from Mills &
Reeve, where he was the firm’s Birmingham real estate chief.
Mills & Reeve has strengthened its corporate team with the appointment of three new solicitors. Richard Lobban has joined as an associate from Scottish firm Brodies. Junaid Haroon has joined the firm as a solicitor from Hempsons, while Nick Hughes has completed his training contract and qualified into the corporate group.
Watson Esam former senior partner and head of employment Jay Bhayani has left the firm to set up her own niche employment firm in Sheffield. She is joined at Bhayani Bracewell Employment Law by Watson Esam associate Katie Beal and legal executive Sara Ellison.
Langleys has appointed leading amateur jockey Serena Brotherton as head of its equine law group. Brotherton, who works part-time as a solicitor at the Yorkshire and Humberside-based firm, is the four-time national lady amateur champion jockey.
Ledingham Chalmers has beefed up its Aberdeen private client offering with the hire of Douglas Watson as a new partner from
Adam Cochran, where he was also a partner.
CMS Hasche Sigle has named Andreas Zanner as managing partner of its Frankfurt office. The capital markets partner was elected following a unanimous vote.
Wolf Theiss has hired a pair of Clifford Chance associates as it ramps up its Prague energy and infrastructure practice. Tomáš Rychlý will join the firm as partner and Jan Kotous as senior associate.
Russian IP specialist Pepeliaev Group has named Valentina Orlova as head of its IP and trademark practice. Orlova was previously head of legal at the Russian patent office Rospatent.
Baker & McKenzie partner Mikhail Turetsky has joined Latham & Watkins’ Moscow office as a partner in its corporate group.
SNR Denton has grown its Dubai TMT practice with the appointment of Joby Beretta as a partner. Beretta joins the firm from international luxury hospitality business Jumeirah Group.
