Maxwell Winward has recruited Matthew Arnold & Baldwin (MAB) employment head Adam Fuge as a partner in its employment team.
Move of the week
Fuge, whose areas of expertise include insolvency, equal pay, management buyouts and industrial disputes, was a senior associate at Norton Rose before moving to MAB.
He was also previously a member of the employment group at Olswang. Maxwell Winward employment partner Bill Parker said: ”Employment’s an important area for the firm, one where we see the potential for substantial growth.
The clients that Adam brings to the team, as well as his strong track record in business development, mean he’ll play an integral role in enabling this expansion.”
Linklaters has appointed projects partner Fiona Hobbs as head of client sectors. The four-year appointment means Hobbs also earns a place on the firm’s executive committee.
Simmons & Simmons energy partner David Shasha has joined the London office of Canadian firm Gowlings to head its energy, infrastructure and mining practice in the City. Before joining Simmons in 2003, Shasha was a partner at Clifford Chance.
Doyle Clayton has hired Henmans associate James Anderson as an associate in its Reading office. The specialist employment firm has also promoted three lawyers to associate. They are Alistair McArthur in Reading, Melanie Smith in Canary Wharf and Daniel Sulkowski in its City office.
Milton Keynes firm Kimbells has boosted its insolvency and litigation practice with the recruitment of IBB Solicitors partner Simon Hobbs to lead its commercial litigation group. Kimbells has also hired Shoosmiths associate Linda Mattingly as an associate in its litigation team.
South East firm TWM Solicitors has appointed Allison Crossman as head of its private client team. Crossman originally joined the firm in 2008.
Barlow Robbins Solicitors has promoted chief operations officer Ray Black to partner following the South East firm’s conversion to a legal disciplinary partnership. Black, who has been with Barlow Robbins since 2006, becomes the firm’s first non-lawyer partner.
Shropshire firm Lanyon Bowdler Solicitors has expanded its clinical negligence team with the hire of senior solicitor Lucy Small from Harrison Clarke.
Leicester firm Spearing Waite Solicitors has grown its corporate and business services team with the appointment of corporate associate Jahid Ali from SJ Berwin, where he was an associate.
