O'Melveny taps private equity house for Asia hire

O'Melveny & Myers has hired a former director of private equity house Actis to bulk up its Asia practice.

Dean Collins will join as partner in the firm's investment funds and securitisation practice group and will be resident in O'Melveny's Singapore office.

O'Melveny Asia head Howard Chao said: "Dean's arrival in Asia gives our formidable fund formation practice true global reach across the critical US, UK and Asia markets.

"Dean is a clever and entrepreneurial lawyer with experience as both a client and legal advisor in this area, making him a natural fit with our robust private equity practice in Asia."

Last year The Lawyer reported on the launch of O'Melveny's Singapore office after it hired Bertie Mehigan and Heuy Yann Thong from White & Case's Singapore base (4 August 2008 http://www.thelawyer.com/cgi-bin/item.cgi?id=134073).

O'Melveny's local office focuses on finance, restructuring and distressed investment, private equity, M&A and capital markets.
