Olswang has recruited a new partner to its intellectual property (IP) practice. Kim Walker joins the firm from Biddle, where he was head of the media department.
Andrew Inglis, head of Olswang's IP practice, which employs 22 lawyers, including four partners, explains that the appointment is to meet current market demands.
He says: "The commercial IP side of the practice has expanded enormously, and we felt we needed somebody at partner level who would do exclusively commercial work. It's a very buoyant area of practice."
The practice's clients include vacuum manufacturer Dyson and Guardian Newspapers.
Walker is not permitted to speak to the press under the terms of his release agreement. However, Biddle's senior partner Martin Winter confirmed that he will be missed.
Biddle is currently in negotiations to take on new staff in its IP practice, and plans to announce the appointments early next year.
