Olswang has recruited Jones Day Reavis & Pogue’s UK head of pensions Martin Scott to launch its own pensions team.
Scott will join Olswang in the new year, when he will set about building Olswang’s profile in pensions.
“Olswang is probably the biggest UK firm without a pensions practice. With the new Pensions Act, it’s a good time to launch one. My remit is to build a standalone pensions practice and provide corporate support,” said Scott.
Scott joined Jones Day from Simmons & Simmons in 1999. He established Jones Day’s pensions team and was made a partner at the firm.
Scott said he intended to begin recruiting immediately, with the aim of establishing a team of five lawyers in the next four to five years. Olswang chief executive officer Jonathan Goldstein commented:
“As our corporate business continues to grow, we’re continuing to see a need for pensions advice, especially when assisting clients on major corporate transactions.”
