Olswang has hired Slaughter and May’s former co-head of technology, media and telecoms (TMT) Nigel Swycher for its newly created role of head of technology.
Swycher is one of the UK’s highest-profile technology lawyers, having spent almost 20 years at Slaughters developing its IP, IT and outsourcing practices. He also co-founded Slaughters’ TMT team in 2000.
Olswang senior partner Mark Devereux said Swycher had an “unrivalled reputation” in the industry and that his arrival would boost Olswang’s well-established IP and technology teams. “[Swycher] will propel Olswang beyond our already enviable position in the market as we continue to expand our offering,” Devereux said.
Swycher left Slaughters in 2005 after taking a year-long sabbatical, during which he spent time working with California boutique litigation firm Quinn Emanuel.
