Old Square Chambers deputy senior clerk William Meade is to fill the position left by senior clerk John Taylor on an interim basis.
As revealed by The Lawyer (28 January), Taylor is to take on the newly-created role of director of clerking at Fountain Court at Easter.
With Meade running Old Square's nine-strong clerking team, the set said it will have to consider whether it needs to recruit further, adding it is in no hurry to make any decisions.
Meade, who has been with the chambers for nearly 15 years, said he was looking forward to taking on a more strategic role.
"I have spent most of my career here and I feel that I have the right mix of skills, knowledge and experience to really drive Chambers forward," added Meade.
John Hendy QC, Old Square's head of chambers, said that Taylor has left the set in great shape for the future.
Hendy said: "With Will leading the team we have the luxury of giving ourselves several months to think about what sort of additional person we need to work with Will, and to explore the market."
