Sarah Clover (scroll down for video interview), joint head of Clyde & Co’s professional and financial disputes team, has become virtually a household name in legal circles for defending law firms and barristers in professional liability claims.
She has acted for many top 50 UK law firms on investigations initiated by the disciplinary authorities and in almost every type of claim brought against them.
Most recently, Clover has assisted Eversheds in defeating a High Court negligence claim brought against it by Newcastle International Airport.
The nature of Clover’s work requires her to be the soul of discretion, one of her qualities that is appreciated most by her clients. Along with her technical excellence, her sensitivity to the reputational issues faced by law firms and her approach of working in close partnership with them also make her a cut above the rest.
Clover argues that the merger between Clyde & Co and her legacy firm Barlow Lyde & Gilbert and the global expansion of the merged firm have been beneficial to her practice. She notes that she and her team are increasingly working for international firms on claims arising out of London. She also expects to see more claims against one firm in multiple jurisdictions as a result of globalisation.
The past year has seen Clover moving the firm’s global business forward, travelling frequently to Clydes’ overseas offices to knit together the professional liability teams across the network.
