Energy watchdog Ofgem has recruited 20 Essex Street barrister Colleen Hanley as the second-in-command of its legal team.
Hanley, who was called to the bar in 2003 and who took tenancy at 20 Essex Street a year later, will replace Ruth Ashworth, who is moving to the policy and strategy unit at the Office of Fair Trading.
Ofgem legal director of markets Duncan Sinclair, who co-heads the regulatory body’s legal group with David Ashbourne and Irene Hurrell, said Hanley would bolster the team’s ability to deal with contentious and other matters in-house.
20 Essex Street senior clerk Brian Lee confirmed Hanley’s departure from the set and wished her well.
