Ofcom has published a consultation on its proposals for authorising land-based, aircraft-mounted and ship-mounted Earth stations on mobile platforms (ESOMPs).
Considered a solution to the problem of providing broadband connectivity to passengers on board vehicles such as aircraft, ships and trains, ESOMPs will use the radio spectrum to provide broadband backhaul links via satellite.
