Everyone, including lawyers and legal journalists, has difficulty with foreign-sounding names from time to time. They don’t always admit it, but they do. And God knows it’s only getting worse as firms continue to open in ever-more exotic places (thanks a bunch Clyde & Co for your Iraq exploits).
But it’s refreshing to discover that the problem is also much the same for lawyers working closer to home. Recently, while working on a deal in the Emerald Isle, the exotic moniker of Lovells’ Marco Compangoni confused a number of his Irish clients. During the deal the private equity star received a letter addressed not to him, but to his close friend Mark O’Compangoni.
Sources say Compangoni is sure to be delighted with his new tag.
