OC turns to Stephenson Harwood for City partner hire

Osborne Clarke (OC) has recruited Stephenson Harwood commercial and outsourcing partner John Buyers in the latest hire into the Bristol-headquartered firm’s City base.

Buyers is the partner in charge of Stephenson Harwood’s commercial, outsourcing and technology group and leaves the firm today (8 January).

He will start at OC on Monday (11 February) in the firm’s digital business sector group in London, joining former colleague and finance partner John Pike, who recently joined the firm.

Pike left Dundas & Wilson last year and moved to OC as part of a London team hire from the Scottish firm that also included real estate partner Nick Padget and a team of finance associates. One of the associates, Ben Truman, joins as a partner (1 February 2013).

Buyers joined Stephenson Harwood in 2005 from Scotland’s McGrigors, where he was a partner (29 March 2005).

Business transactions head Ray Berg said in a statement: “John [Buyers] brings with him a wealth of experience in handling international commercial transactions which will add extra impetus to OC’s international capabilities.”

Adrian Bott, head of digital business at OC, added: “John has specialist skills when it comes to ensuring that financial services sector clients are compliant with the latest regulatory standards for their IT transactions. This represents a winning combination for OC clients in both digital business and financial Services sectors.”

OC’s accelerated lateral hiring programme is in force this year after the scheme last year resulted in the firm bringing in roughly 10 London recruits as partner in 2012.
