William Bolton, a junior clerk at 20 Essex Street, has died in a tragic car accident, which took place in the early morning of Sunday 7 March 2004. Will, as he was known to his many friends, had been a clerk for the past three years and was extremely popular with the chambers’ solicitor clients. An accomplished runner, Will came third in last year’s City Road Race; he also won the category for the past two years of Best Pupil Barrister, which he subsequently requested be renamed ‘Best Clerk/Pupil Barrister’. Head of chambers Iain Milligan QC said: “He will be sadly missed and our thoughts go out to his family.” A funeral will be held at 3pm this Wednesday (17 March) at Elmers End Road Crematorium, Beckenham.
