O'Melveny & Myers has appointed Jose Fernandez as head of its New York office
Fernandez, an M&A, corporate finance and privatisation specialist, already heads the Latin American practice. He will boost the office's transactional capability after last year's departure of co-chair of the firm's M&A and private equity practices Jeff Rosen for Debevoise & Plimpton. Fernandez said: "New York is a high-stakes market filled with opportunity and we have a talented group of attorneys focused on finding these opportunities." Fernandez has a pre-eminent reputation for Latin American work. He acts for banks, advising on loans and restructurings with Brazilian, Bolivian, Chilean, Colombian, Mexican and Venezuelan borrowers within the aircraft, telecoms and energy industries. O'Melveny has also recruited Fliesler Dubb Meyer & Lovejoy intellectual property partner Mark Miller to its San Francisco office. Miller was joint head of Fliesler Dubb's litigation practice, where he specialised in patent, trademark and copyright matters.
