New York-headquartered Curtis Mallet-Prevost Colt & Mosle has strengthened its presence in the Latin America region by forming a strategic alliance with Argentine firm Fernandez Quiroga Ayarragaray & Ocampo.
Curtis has advised clients in Spanish-speaking Latin America for more than a century and maintained an office in Buenes Aires in the 1920s. The firm's co-managing partner Matias Vega said that the alliance with Fernandez made sense for both parties.
"We know the firm very well, they meet our criteria in terms of size and practice profile and we've worked with them for years," Vega said. "From their perspective, this deal gives them the ability to hook up with our more international presence."
As well as its five offices in the US, Curtis has four offices throughout Europe, including London.
Vega added that the firm was also considering how best to expand its offering in the Brazilian market.
"We certainly are interested in Brazil and will be looking closely at that market over the coming months," he revealed.
