A TAKEOVER and forthcoming acquisition means Stockport firm Gorvin Kenyon can call itself the largest practice operating solely in Stockport.

The firm completed a takeover of Bell Hough & Hamnett last month and is now acquiring Stockport firm O'Neill & Co. It now has five partners and two consultants.

Ian Cook, a partner at Bell Hough for over 30 years, is now a consultant to Gorvin Kenyon and Colin Sheen joins the firm's probate department.

The acquisition of O'Neill & Co follows the death of the practice's sole practitioner, Gerard O'Neill. Property executive Barbara Binns and litigation manager John Green join Gorvin Kenyon as fee earners.

Partner Andrew Callaghan said the acquisitions are part of on-going expansion. “We are keeping our eyes open in towns and cities in the North West.

“We are litigation-based but we are expanding domestic conveyancing and probate departments,” he added.
