Norwegian oil company Statoil has revamped its in-house team, appointing SEB Enskilda CEO Hans Henrik Klouman as overall legal head.
Klouman, who is joining the company on 1 August, replaces Tom Eide as legal counsel. Eide stepped down from the Oslo role several months ago to become legal head for the company’s global strategy and business development division, working out of London.
The overall team was run in the interim by Siv Helen Rygh Torstensen, who now returns to her position as head of compliance.
Klouman joined investment banking and broking services provider SEB in 2007 from financial services company Storebrand, where he was general counsel and executive vice-president between 1994 and 2007.
Gunnar Heiberg, head of the international legal team, is also leaving Statoil, taking up the role of corporate legal head at Storebrand on 1 August.
He currently runs the legal team for the Statoil’s non-Norwegian upstream energy and petroleum and was previously in the corporate legal team of Christiania Bank, now part of Nordea.
Statoil has not yet appointed a replacement for Heiberg and the position remains open.
Statoil’s external advisers include Dewey & LeBoeuf, SNR Denton and Vinson & Elkins.
