Norton Rose is making the first attempts to plug the gap left by the move of four securities partners to Baker & McKenzie (B&M) with the hire of Lovells partner Laurence Garside.
Garside, a capital markets specialist and head of Lovells’ derivatives group, will join Norton Rose in August.
In May 2005 The Lawyer revealed that four Norton Rose partners - Jonathan Walsh, Vincent Keaveny, Bruce Somer and Ian Porter – were to move to B&M after a 12-month notice period.
The news of their departure came just months after fellow capital markets partners Christian Parker and Liz Jones left for Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft and Standard & Poor's respectively.
Garside’s debt capital markets expertise will help boost Norton Rose’s capital markets and securities group in the wake of the announcements.
