Norton Rose has raided US firm Duane Morris for corporate star Adam Summerly to ramp up its Singapore capabilities.
Summerly has worked in the South East Asian and Indian markets for over 10 years and was one of six Duane Morris partners to launch the Philadelphia-headquartered firm's Singapore office in January 2007.
David Stannard, Norton Rose Asia chief, said Summerly coming on board is part of the firm's overall strategy to grow its operations in the region through its Singapore practice.
"Adam brings to the practice an intimate knowledge of the region and expertise in corporate finance, which is a key practice area for this office," said Stannard.
"His recent experience has focused on cross-boarder M&A in Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Vietnam and elsewhere in South East Asia, which will certainly benefit our growing presence in the region."
The news comes as Norton Rose continues to work towards a Tokyo launch to take advantage of Japanese companies investing in the Middle East (The Lawyer, 8 October 2007).
Duane Morris confirmed that Summerly was joining Norton Rose and wished him well.
