Norton Rose raids A&O to ramp up Paris and Milan practices" />Norton Rose has made a dual raid on Allen & Overy's (A&O) European banking practice with the hire of new partners in Paris and Milan.
Asset finance specialist Luc Rentmeesters joins Norton Rose's French office in mid-September after eight years as a partner at A&O. He was the magic circle firm's first French banking hire in 1998.
Meanwhile, A&O senior associate Mario Lisanti has joined Norton Rose in Milan in a bid to boost the firm's Italian banking practice.
The hires follow last week's (24 July) announcement that Norton Rose has hired Gianni Origoni Grippo & Partners partner Stefano Zappala in Rome and Latham & Watkins partner Roberto Cristofolino in Paris.
Norton Rose France managing partner George Paterson told The Lawyer: "I think Luc was quite attracted by the combination of the strategic aims of the Paris office, as well as the banking group."
Rentmeesters' clients include major French banks such as Calyon and BNP Paribas.
Mike Taylor, head of banking at Norton Rose in Italy, said Lisanti's hire was part of a strategy to broaden the firm's practice areas.
An A&O spokesperson wished Rentmeesters well and said the firm did not comment on senior associate departures.
