Norton Rose makes record promotions

Norton Rose has made up 23 senior associates to its partnership, breaking its record promotions last year by one.

Following the trend of the last three years the corporate and banking practices have been the big winners with 10 and six being promoted respectively.

Peter Martyr, chief executive of Norton Rose, said: “The large number of
promotions is a reflection of the strength of our business and the roles we
are continuing to develop for our senior associates. Twelve of the
promotions are in our international offices, a real demonstration of the
firm’s excellent international growth.”

Dispute resolution saw its biggest increase in four years with three made up to the partnership.

Competition also gained four, while tax and employee benefits will both see their practices grow by one when the senior associates are promoted on 1 May.

London was again the centre of the internal promotions with 11 – almost half of the senior associates – being based in Britain’s capital.

Dubai had the second largest intake with three being made up to bolster its numbers. The increase in the United Emirates’ second largest city comes as Norton Rose continues to strengthen its energy practice.

Amsterdam and Singapore gained two, while Hong Kong, Athens, Paris and Brussels all grew by one.

Four of the new partners, which are a mix of salaried and equity partners, are women – a half percent increase in female intake compared to last year.

The record promotions, which brings the partnership up to 241, comes as the firms continues an aggressive recruitment drive which saw 18 laterals last year.
