Norton Rose has continued to target the wider Asia market following its tie-up with Australian firm Deacons, with two corporate partners relocating to Hong Kong.
Australia managing partner Don Boyd has confirmed that a number of local partners are likely to move to South East Asia and China as the firm makes use of its enhanced presence in the region.
“We’re embarking on a programme to move Australian partners to Asia,” said Boyd. “We have a big movement of people underway already and we’re adapting our recruitment strategy to that aim.”
The Asia strategy has seen former Deacons partner Shaun McRobert relocate from Perth to Hong Kong. McRobert has been joined by Dubai partner Andrew Abernathy, taking the headcount in the office to 16.
The move follows the relocation of dispute resolution partner Peter Cash from Melbourne to Singapore. Cash will take up his new position in Singapore in May, doubling the size of the partnership.
The firm is expected to add more partners to the Singapore office in the coming months.
