Norton Rose hires Thomson lawyer and revamps City tech team

Norton Rose has restructured its London communications, media and technology (CMT) team, hiring Mike Knapper, assistant European counsel at data provider Thomson, and recalling partners Campbell Steedman and Simon Cox from Germany.

The restructuring doubles the number of CMT partners in the London office.

At Thomson, Knapper was responsible for providing advice on protecting and commercialising the company’s European databases. Knapper is a former senior associate in Norton Rose’s CMT practice and joins as an IP partner this time round.

Steedman was a partner in the Frankfurt office and Cox worked in Munich. They have returned to London to boost the telecoms and outsourcing practices, working alongside partners Iain Wright and Michael Grenfell.

Outsourcing clients of the firm include the Department of Health, BNP Paribas, and Etislat, Vodafon and Swisscom in telecoms.
