Norton Rose is the latest in a plethora of firms to get a slice of the Safeways action. The firm is advising Philip Green’s financial backer, West LB, on its possible bid.
The firm has acted for West LB before in connection with a number of the bank's own investments and also on its bid for Railtrack.
Allen & Overy also maintains a strong relationship with West LB, but no doubt has its hands full with instructions from both Morrison’s financial adviser ABN Amro and Wal-Mart’s banker Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein.
