Norton Rose boosts Bahrain practice with Islamic finance hire

A former Norton Rose partner has returned to the firm’s Bahrain office after a stint at Al Salam Bank.

Islamic finance specialist Mohammed Paracha is to join as a partner and deputy global head of Islamic finance.

Having spent five years at Norton Rose in the London and Bahrain banking teams, Paracha left for Al Salam Bahrain in 2006, where he took on a mixture of legal and commercial roles as executive vice president and then head of Europe.

This follows the relocation of global head of Islamic finance Neil Miller from London to Dubai in 2009.

Miller said: “We’ve been active in the Middle East for over 30 years and Mohammed’s appointment to the Bahrain office will add to the strength of our banking and Islamic finance presence in the region.”

With the addition of Paracha, the Bahrain office will have a total of two partners and 17 lawyers.
