The two North West firms, which have been in talks since April, have abandoned plans of a link-up due to an internal restructuring at Weightmans. In a joint statement, David Wareing, managing partner at Hill Dickinson, says: "Weightmans is in the process of restructuring and in these circumstances moving on to the next of discussions at present would have been inappropriate."
Negotiations began to wane in July, when The Lawyer revealed that questions over terms of partnership had caused ructions between the two parties.
