TWO North East authorities are ringing in the changes at the top as they prepare for competitive tendering.
Peter Watts has taken over as head of legal at Northumberland following Henry Warne's switch to Newcastle.
The combined legal and administration department at Newcastle has been split in two with Valerie Dodds heading the newly-created Newcastle Law, and Warne taking over as head of administration. The departmental split and creation of a business unit is CCT-driven.
Watts joined Northumberland in 1989 as a senior solicitor and specialised in social services and child care work.
"CCT is rapidly coming upon us and there is a great deal of work to be done to ensure that we are in a position to effectively compete with private practices for council work," he says.
