Nomura looks to Wragges for new hire

Japanese investment bank Nomura has tapped Wragge & Co’s corporate team for a new addition to its asset finance group.

Nick Smith, who has been a partner at Wragges for five years and with the firm for a total of 14 years, is joining Nomura in a newly created non-legal role as part of the bank’s 30-strong asset finance group.

As a director in the group, Smith will report to co-managing directors Derek Vago and Gary Wilder.

Smith has worked with Nomura for over year, on mandates including the ultimately failed £2.5bn bid for Scottish & Newcastle Plc and more recently on the bank’s £245m purchase of the Earls Court and Olympia exhibition and conference centres.
