Nomura legal head quits

Investment bank in legal shake-up as Mee resigns

Nomura International's European general counsel David Mee has quit after ten years with the Japanese investment bank.

Mee, who heads up a 50-strong legal team comprising the transactional legal and corporate legal departments, will be leaving the bank in March 2003 but has not yet secured a new position.

His resignation coincides with Nomura's decision last month to restructure the legal team, resulting in the transactional legal department reporting directly to the head of risk management David Benson, a non-lawyer.
