No surprises in Linklaters' senior partner election

In the end there were no shocks in the Linklaters senior partner election. Former corporate head David Cheyne cruised majestically to victory, while his rivals - finance head Giles White and banking partner Robert Elliott - graciously accepted defeat. Cheyne's victory ensures a sense of continuity, but the smart money for the next generation of management is on a combination of Elliott as senior partner and Asia head Simon Davies as managing partner. Now that seems like a dream ticket in the making.
