  • Jumeirah does not build hotels. It manages a handful of hotels gifted to it by the Dubai government (with varying degrees of success).

    The Jumeirah panel (hype) has always been an absurdity. It doesn't receive meaningful work and is widely regarded as self-promotion (witness the somewhat comical level of UK press coverage of this story about a small Dubai company).

    The firms politely play along with the antics because of the political and financial significance of Dubai Holding (Jumeirah's parent). However, there have been a number of personality clashes which may be why some firms were "dropped". It can't have been due to their hourly rates as that factor is irrelevant if there is no work anyway.
