If adversity precedes growth, as the saying goes, then the bar has embraced the challenges of the recession as well as any in the legal sector.
This week The Lawyer has counted the beans at some of the top chambers and found many are reporting healthy turnover increases.
Increased competition work, direct access and diversification are three of the reasons given by those who crunch the numbers.
The civil bar in the City performed well, as did the main sets in the Midlands and North West, despite the contraction of public sector budgets.
Meanwhile, there’s no shortage of cash washing around in Russian litigation. Friday sees the hotly anticipated judgment in the Berezovsky v Abramovich case.
