Nicholsons poaches IP partner

Nicholson Graham & Jones has recruited a partner from intellectual boutique firm Maycocks, saying that further lateral hires will follow.

Maycocks is now left with only one senior partner, John Maycock, an assistant and one fee earner.

Maycock says his firm will make an announcement in the near future, but he refuses to comment on the direction the firm would take.

He says of the move: "Peter felt his future was not with a small firm."

McBride specialised in intellectual property litigation at City firm Freshfields before joining Maycocks in 1996.

The London-based firm specialises in IT-related IP, co-operating with patent and trade mark attorneys Gill Jennings & Every.

A Nicholson Graham spokeswoman says: "Further recruitments in this area are in the pipeline."

"Growing our IP practice is part of our strategic plan," says Nicholson Graham litigation partner Jane Harte-Lovelace.

"Peter McBride's recruitment complements our existing non-contentious IP team under Sarah Kirk."

Nicholson Graham has also made Alison Dillon a partner in corporate tax and David Brown a partner in planning and environment.
