  • Harry, Ed must be taking a team! As with all lateral partner moves, you cannot expect a partner with that type of practice to go into a new team (which is probably just about sufficiently resourced to service the existing partners) without (a) associates on the whole dedicated to him and his practice and (b) associates he knows and trusts, in order for him to make the transition as smooth as possible for all concerned - him, his clients, and the new firm. I don't know Ed at all, or anybody at KWM for that matter, but I would I imagine that Tom Whelan's first job will be to determine how many associates Ed can bring with him, rather thn simply "welcome him into the fold".

    Harrumph.

  • There have been zero, nada, big fat 0 resignations at SJB as a result of Ed leaving, let alone from associates joining Hogan Lovells. Just sayin'.

  • No associates have resigned from KWMSJB either (a) owing to Ed's departure and/or (b) to join Hogan Lovells. The speculation needs to stop.
