Mourant Ozannes has rehired partner Barney Lee from Appleby, three years after Lee left to set up the rival firm’s Guernsey office.
Lee was a senior associate at Mourant Ozannes legacy firm Ozannes before quitting to help launch Appleby’s Guernsey operation in 2010 (11 January 2010). He is currently head of Appleby’s corporate and commercial practice in Guernsey.
He focuses particularly on the formation and restructuring of investment funds and asset managers as well as other corporate and restructuring matters.
Mourant Ozannes’ Guernsey corporate head Gavin Farrell said Lee was popular with staff and clients and he would be an “outstanding addition” to the firm’s corporate team.
Meanwhile, Appleby has relocated partner Ian Gobin to Guernsey, six months after his hire by the firm (10 October 2012). Gobin was initially located in the Cayman Islands before relocating to lead Appleby’s funds team from the Channel Islands.
Lee will leave Appleby in October. The firm’s Guernsey managing partner Gavin Ferguson wished him well.
