  • A couple of years at a single-race circuit doing track-leasing agreements doesn't create or constitute a sports lawyer.

But then given the complete lack of appreciation or understanding in the Qatar market in relation to the need and requirement for (as well as what actually constititues) specialist expertise in specialist areas, this is an unsurprising move of yet another firm jumping on the bandwagon of masquerading people with specialist skillsets in specialist areas, whereas the reality is in actual fact is anything but the case.

Anybody else also notice that this is yet another 'expert', 'practice-head', 'sector-head' etc etc who Tamimi haven't made partner - an indication of lack of confidence / lack of experience perhaps?

  • Yes, but we are dealing with the Middle East, where Partners who live in the UK or US and make two trips a year of one week's duration to Saudi Arabia, Jordan or Libya can call themselves Saudi, Jordanian or Libyan experts respectively. So why worry too much abut the label.

There won't be any sports in Qatar for a good few years yet and judging by today's news about the conditions for Nepalese workers, it may be the human rights lawyers who see work long before a ball is even kicked.
