This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
UK and US law firms have a habit of grabbing all the headlines, and all the talk recently has been about looking East with merger after merger in Australia and Asia.
But those who ignore what’s right on their doorstep could be missing a trick. Despite the eurozone crisis, there’s still plenty of opportunity across Continental Europe. Indeed UK firms have made up a lot of partners in Europe this year, as our recent analysis showed.
So if you want to know what’s really happening in Europe, you need this year’s edition of The Lawyer European 100. The 2013 report has even more detail than previous year’s - far too much to detail here.
The headline, however, is that despite the local economy Garrigues has retained top spot. Germany and Norway were the outstanding jurisdictions, a fact recognised by many UK firms who all made up a lot of partners in their German offices.
German firms Gleiss Lutz and Noerr both had excellent years, as did Norway’s Schjodt. The latter’s turnover rise of 14 per cent was the standout performer of the year.
