September has come and while everyone wonders where the summer went, some firms have been busy looking for new additions to their European rosters.
First up is Kinstellar. Five years on from splitting off from Linklaters, the Central and Eastern European outfit has opened its seventh office, hiring a team from Dentons in Kazakhstan. Further west, Pinsent Masons is celebrating its one-year anniversary in France by picking up another partner from Marccus Partners. Eugénie Berthet will run a tax team for the UK firm in Paris and rejoins former colleagues at Pinsents, which opened in France with a number of Marccus Partners lawyers.
In Portugal, Linklaters’ former Lisbon managing partner Jorge Bleck is also on the move. Bleck has joined Portuguese firm Vieira de Almeida, just over a decade after helping launch the magic circle firm’s office in the country.
And finally, there has been a rare lateral hire in Ireland as Arthur Cox corporate partner Conor O’Dwyer moves to McCann FitzGerald. It’s a busy time for corporate practices in Ireland, with plenty of work in a number of sectors, and the hire brings McCann’s corporate team to 20 partners.
