With the Eurozone finally nudging out of recession, the results show that a measure of confidence has returned to some European markets. After a difficult 2012, for instance, French firms by and large had extremely positive 2013s. Germany and its legal market continue to power ahead, and even Spain and Italy are doing better.
While Iberian firm Garrigues has held on to its top spot in the rankings the gap is narrowing thanks to a better performance by second-placed Fidal. Other firms to stand out this year include Noerr, climbing to seventh place, and Belgium’s Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick.
Liedekerke had an outstanding year with growth of 57 per cent, thanks partly to the successful completion of several large matters, propelling it up from 84th place to 57th.
Meanwhile we’ve also looked at international firms for the first time, ranking the top 30 in Europe by headcount. Online we’ve delved deeper into the continental strategies of Baker & McKenzie, Eversheds and Latham & Watkins.
