Osborne Clarke has continued its European expansion with two partner hires in its newly formed Paris and Brussels offices.
The firm has appointed IP partner Claire Bouchenard to its Paris office, which was set up in July (22 July 2013), and former Linklaters managing associate David Haex to the Brussels office, which opened in June (28 September 2012). Both started at Osborne Clarke on Monday 2 September 2013.
Haex advised a number of biotechnology, IT, insurance and renewable energy companies on a range of matters at Linklaters and will work on international M&A, private equity transactions, public takeovers as well as corporate governance and international corporate restructurings at Osborne Clarke.
Bouchenard moved to the Paris base from Parisian firm B-Cube which she co-founded in 2011, having previously worked as in-house legal counsel at Gallimard Jeunesse Musique. The IP partner brought with her associate Julia Darcel from B-Cube and will work on IP, internet, commercial and advertising law for French and international clients for contentious and non-contentious clients.
Osborne Clarke has been beefing up its European offering in recent months following a split from its European alliance in 2012 (29 March 2012). The firm dismantled its relationship with Belgium’s De Wolf & Partners, Dutch firm Ploum Lodder Princen and Stehlin & Associés of France last year, before merging with Italian and Spanish allies SLA Studio Legale Associato and Osborne Clarke Spain.
After declining a merger with De Wolf, the firm took a two-partner team from its former ally to launch its Brussels office with employment partner Thierry Viérin and commercial partner Stefan Deswert (3 June 2013).
The 10-strong Brussels office was Osborne Clarke’s 14th office when it opened in June, a month before the Paris launch in July.
