A pair of King & Wood Mallesons SJ Berwin (KWMSJB) partners have quit the newly-merged firm for local firms in France and Germany.
French real estate partner Vincent Lassalle is taking a team of two lawyers with him to local firm SBKG & Associés, while finance partner Thomas Schrell is joining Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek’s Frankfurt office on 1 January 2014.
Both were formerly partners at KWMSJB legacy firm SJ Berwin. Schrell joined SJ Berwin in 2004 from legacy Lovells, while Lassalle moved to the firm from Reed Smith in 2008 (12 May 2008).
For Heuking Schrell is the eighth partner lateral hire in the last 12 months. The firm has also picked up Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe partners Michael Alberts and Peter Zimmerman (5 February 2013) and four equity and one salaried partner from Frankfurt boutique Berger & Steck, all with a focus on finance issues.
At SBKG managing partner David Gordon-Krief said the arrival of Lassalle and his team fitted with the firm’s aims of growing its real estate expertise.
