Hogan Lovells is hiring a white-collar crime partner to boost its Paris litigation capabilities.
Metzner Associés partner Antonin Lévy will join the firm along with two associates at the start of 2014.
Lévy’s experience includes representing Continental Airlines in its defence of criminal proceedings relating to the 2000 crash of Concorde, in which 113 people died. Last year a French appeals court said the airline was not criminally liable for the accident.
He originally trained at legacy Lovells, and Paris litigation head Thomas Rouhette said the firm had been referring cases to him for some time.
”White collar crime is a very hot topic in France,” Rouhette said. ”Every regulation has a criminal sanction associated with it and there’s a very heavy regulatory environment here. Additionally we have the cross-border regulatory environment which has a big impact on Francophone soil.”
He said Lévy understood the mindset of international clients well.
Rouhette added that Hogan Lovells had been searching for a senior lateral in white-collar crime in France for some time, and planned to continue growing the practice.
