French firm Gide Loyrette Nouel has added a pair of restructuring partners from Dentons to its Paris restructuring practice, in a continuation of a several months-long hiring spree.
Dentons partners Gabriel Sonier and Caroline Texier are the latest in a string of partners to join the firm. In October, Gide announced it was hiring a team of 19 - including nine partners - from Morgan Lewis & Bockius in Paris (16 October 2013). The firm then followed up by adding nine lawyers, including two partners, in Kiev from Germany’s Beiten Burkhardt (2 December 2013).
Sonier and Texier joined Dentons legacy firm Salans in 2012 from Sonier’s boutique Sonier & Associés (15 December 2011). Sonier’s experience includes advsing companies such as Virgin Stores, Eurotunnel and Omnium Finance on restructuring issues.
Gide senior partner Baudouin de Moucheron and managing partner Stéphane Puel said restructuring had been one of the firm’s strongest practice areas for some time and the appointment would boost the firm’s expertise.
Gide now has 75 partners in Paris.
Dentons has lost two partners from its Paris office since the tripartite merger last year between Salans, SNR Denton and Fraser Milner Casgrain. Real estate partner Antoine Mercier moved to DLA Piper (10 September 2013) while litigation head Constantin Achillas and counsel Jean-Norbert Pontier moved to Bryan Cave (4 June 2013).
But the firm has also been hiring in Paris, picking up Fidal energy partners Ramin Hariri and Vincent Lacombe (4 December 2013). This week Dentons announced it was hiring real estate lawyer Alexandre Poupard as a partner in Paris from Allen & Overy, where he was a counsel.
